Welcome to Bike Zone and Summertown Cycles.

Our two Oxford based shops are independently-owned and run by cycle enthusiasts. We have had cycle shops in Oxford for over 30 years, building strong relationships with our customers who come from far and wide to see us and our bands. Between our two shops we offer bike brands such as Trek, Cube, Cannondale, Wisper, Genesis, Surely, Pashley, Frog and much more. We also stock an extensive range of accessories, safety equipment and parts from most leading cycle brands.

As well as stocking the best bike brands and accessories we also offer cycle hire from our Summertown shop for short or long term periods. Our city centre shop (Bike Zone) offers a custom bike build service for someone that wants more than just an off the peg bike. Our shops have fully equipped workshops and offer inexpensive, quick-turnaround repairs.

But most importantly, both shops are run by cyclists! We live and breathe it, if its pedal powered and has wheels then we love it. If you want to find out why our customers love us, then pop in, say hello and find out for yourself.

Come in store, buy online with free Click & Collect or use our outstanding premium home delivery and setup service.

2018 Cannondale Bikes & Large Sausages

I cant think of a better way to spend the day, riding bikes and eating BBQ food while drooling over 2018 bikes with lots of shiny bits. So when Cannondale said come along to Tidworth bike park to do just that, it was a offer we couldn't refuse.

We rocked up around 10ish, blue sky's, still a little chilly although I'm not going to complain as the day before was a complete wash out. With a short walk over to the big inflatable dome tent with all the bikes in we said hello to the Cannondale chaps and proceeded to look at the new kit.

One of the first things we looked at was the 2018 Cannondale Moterra. The Moterra is the latest offering in Cannondale’s full sus E-MTB, it looks prity hard core and they offer it in two travel options. A 130mm with 27.5+ setup or a 160mm non plus 27.5 rig, I’m not going to lie, it looks like a bit of a beast and almost a little agricultural in design. They do a SE model in a really nice grey and black paint job with tanned side walls, it defiantly looked slick and like it ment business. For more of a in-depth look in to the Moterra have a read of our test review.

After checking out some of the other mountain bikes we were drawn over so some bright coloured road bikes. The Synapse Gets a new frame for the hi-mod while the standard is now a full ballistec carbon frame. Weight reductions all round as you would expect along with flat mount callipers  and proper mudguard clearance and mounts (at last)

Something else that’s new for Cannondale is the integrated aero bar and stem system for 2018. A cleaver bit of kit that still allows you to change stem lengths but keep the integrated look. With two well hidden bolts on the underside of the bars you can take them off the stem to make any necessary changes and on top you have the ability to add a integrated Garmin mount to keep things tidy.

At this point we got a little side-tracked with the smell of the hotdogs and burgers cooking away. Off we went to see if they were as good as the smelt. After asking for a hotdog we were confronted with a 12inch monster dog in a whole French stick. Needles to say the lovely ladies serving us soon said they had herd all the sausage jokes from the day before, so that put a stop to that.

Back to the bikes! The CAADX range looks solid for this year, with a lovely looking SE option. The SE comes with tubeless ready wheels and tyres and a slick paint job, as well as upgraded brakes over the other 105 CAADX. This SE thing seems to be a bit of a theme this year for Cannondale, being offered on a number of their Bikes across the range. They have also come out with a very smart kids bike range for 2018, offering lightweight good quality kids bikes in funky colours.

Overall 2018 looks like a year of cool tec, crazy colours and maybe not to many more hotdogs for a while :). Keep your eyes peeled for more 2018 stuff and our thoughts.
